Breaking Barriers with Aloha—DeeAnn Weber’s Inspiring Journey
At Calidad Industries, our success is built on the dedication, resilience, and diverse backgrounds of our team members. This month, we’re proud to spotlight DeeAnn Weber, a food service worker whose journey is a testament to strength, heritage, and the power of determination.
DeeAnn draws inspiration from her family roots in Hawaii. Her mother, a nurse at Queen’s Hospital, and her grandmother, a community leader with the Blue Star Mother’s Club and the American Legion Auxiliary, instilled in DeeAnn the values of hard work, perseverance, and helping others with a smile—and a sense of “Aloha.” These lessons have become the foundation of her daily life and approach to work.
As a passionate advocate for women, DeeAnn sheds light on the unique challenges faced by women in healthcare, especially those who are deaf. She emphasizes the need for greater understanding and inclusivity in medical care, sharing that pregnancy and postnatal experiences for deaf women often lack proper recognition and support. Her perspective calls attention to the importance of making healthcare accessible to all.
When asked about her role models, DeeAnn names Amelia Earhart, the pioneering aviator who broke through gender barriers in the early 20th century. “She was adventurous, ambitious, determined, and followed her dreams,” says DeeAnn. Earhart’s courage and determination serve as a reminder that women can achieve greatness, even in fields historically dominated by men.
DeeAnn’s own journey has not been without obstacles. As a woman with a hearing impairment, she has faced communication challenges between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English. Yet, she meets these hurdles with unwavering resolve, embodying the resilience passed down from her mother and grandmother.
DeeAnn Weber truly exemplifies what it means to break barriers with Aloha. We are honored to have her as part of the Calidad Industries family!
